MDS AI Search — Prototypes

Interactive prototype suite demonstrating an AI-powered search experience for the Movement Disorder Society website. Prepared by NWS Digital for stakeholder review.

Foundation

The search entry point establishes the visual framework for all other prototypes.

Empty state showing the search page before any query is submitted. Includes suggested query chips, helper text, and the full MDS site wrapper.

Priority 1 — Core Search Experiences

The primary member and non-member search result flows.

Authenticated member receives a comprehensive AI-generated response with full citations, source references, and feedback controls. Demonstrates full-access content delivery.

“What are the current diagnostic criteria for progressive supranuclear palsy?”

Anonymous visitor sees a partial response with public results shown in full and member-only content gated behind a login prompt. Includes membership upsell CTA.

“What education modules are available on deep brain stimulation?”

Priority 2 — Special Behaviors

Prototypes demonstrating patient detection, redirect logic, and safety guardrails.

System detects a patient or caregiver query and redirects to patient-appropriate resources rather than providing clinical content. Warm, empathetic tone.

“My husband was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease — what should we expect?”

Even authenticated members are declined when asking for specific clinical treatment or dosage recommendations. The system provides relevant alternative resources.

“What is the recommended levodopa dosage for early-onset Parkinson’s disease?”

Priority 3 — Edge Cases

Handling out-of-scope queries and demonstrating multi-source content aggregation.

Query falls outside MDS content scope. The system responds honestly rather than hallucinating, and suggests related topics the user might explore.

“What are the latest Alzheimer’s biomarker panels?”

Results span multiple content types — clinical resources, education modules, upcoming events, and publications — grouped and cited by category.

“What MDS resources are available on dystonia?”
